Getting to Brescia
Brescia is a city in the northern Italian region of Lombard located between Milan (approx. 100 KM west of Brescia and Verona (approx. 70 KM (43 miles) to the west of Brescia). Brescia is a historic town within close proximity of the Lake Garda region so you may want to extend you visit to take in some of the most beautiful scenery Italy has on offer.
Delegates have a number of travel options for arriving in Italy and onwards to Brescia depending on their origin and airline selection.
While Brescia has its own local airport serving internal flights you will most likely arrive at one of the following four airports:
- Milan–Malpensa Airport (MXP)
- Milan-Linate Airport (LIN)
- Milan-Bergamo Airport (BGY) also known as Orio al Serio International Airport
- Verona-Villafranca Airport (VRN)
Prior to booking your flight, we recommend you research your airlines regional hubs as it may give your greater flexibility to arrive into perhaps London/Dublin/Amsterdam/Frankfurt then transfer to a low cost carrier to Brescia. (Note however, if travelling this option please allow sufficient time and ensure your booking allows for baggage transfer etc when booking low cost carriers as terms and conditions vary greatly from carrier to carrier).
All airports offer the possibility of booking a shuttle services. If availing of this (which can be good value if you are travelling in a group of 4 or more persons) we advise you research rates in advance of making your booking.
Milan–Malpensa Airport (MXP)
Milan–Malpensa Airport (MXP) is the largest international airport for the Milan area. It provides regular scheduled flights to most worldwide destinations or via the hub networks of the Al Italia network partners. You will easily get connections with the main US, Asian and Middle Eastern carriers. MXP is the furthest recommended airport from Brescia as travel times depending on mode of transport from MXP to Brescia can be in excess of 2 hours. Upon arrival, you will have a number of connection options as follows.
Train: There is no direct train service from MXP to Brescia however there is an easy interchange at Milan central. To avail of this take a train to ‘Milano Centrale’ (journey time approx. 45 minutes), then take a train toward ‘Venezia S.Lucia’ which stops at Brescia central station (journey time approx. 35 minutes). The total travel time can vary from 1:45 to almost 3 hours depending on arrival and connection times at Milano Centrale. The cost for this journey is approximately €25 each way (however will depend on luggage and time of travel)
Taxi: Taxi service operate from MXP as do contract drivers. The one way journey to Brescia will cost you in the region of €200 and take between 1.5 and 2 hours travel time.
Bus: To take a bus to Brescia you have a number of options. You can first take the train and/or metro to Milano Centrale. From here you can take regular bus services from Milan central to Brescia. Theses are operated by multiple operators. See the relevant websites for details. Prices vary from €14 upwards each way.
Alternatively you can avail of the Airshuttlenord direct service. This only operates four times a day and can cost up to €45 each way depending on time of booking etc.
Milan-Linate Airport (LIN)
Milan-Linate Airport (LIN) is located somewhat closer to Brescia although it is not as well serviced by public transport options and some advance planning is recommended. The airport is again serviced by all major airlines in particular Al Italia, British Airways, Air France, KLM, SAS and thereby is open to USA and other delegates by the corresponding US airline partners.
Train: There is no direct train service from LIN to Brescia however there is an easy interchange at Milan central. To avail of this take a bus to ‘Milano Centrale’ (journey time approx. 30 minutes), then take a train toward ‘Venezia S.Lucia’ which stops at Brescia central station (journey time approx. 35 minutes). The total travel time can vary from 1:45 to almost 3 hours depending on arrival and connection times at Milano Centrale. Milan-Bergamo Airport (BGY) also known as Orio al Serio International Airport
Milan-Bergamo Airport (BGY) is probably the most convenient airport to Brescia. It is however, what is termed a low cost carrier airport in European terms. This means that while most European delegates will be able to have direct (single flight access to it) delegates from outside Europe will most likely have to transit via another airport to arrive here and also to change airlines to one of the low cost carriers. Bergamo is well served by Ryan Air, WizzAir, as well as many other low cost carriers.
Train: the airport does not have a train station however there are shuttle buses operated by Autostradale that will take you to Bergamo train station (15 minutes) and from here you can take a train to Brescia.
Bus: There is a direct bus service from Bergamo to Brescia operating 10 times a day. Journey time takes approximately 1 hour and cost €12. You will arrive at Bergamo central station.
Taxi: Taxi service operate from BGY. The one-way journey to Brescia will cost you in the region of €90 and take approximately 1.5 hours travel time.
Verona-Villafranca Airport (VRN)
Verona airport offers a mix of low cast and general carrier services. On ground transport options are:
Train: The Verona Airport is connected to the Verona train station via a Shuttle/Aerobus service that runs every 20 minutes and is a 10 minute journey. From here you can catch a train to Brescia that will take approx. 45 minutes journey time and cost from €15.
Taxi: A taxi journey from Verona to Brescia takes approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes depending on traffic. Average cost is €100.
