Shaping the Future of Dental Education
Shaping the future of dental education is a collaborative activity of the American Dental Education Association (ADEA) and the Association for Dental Education in Europe (ADEE). The associations’ strong historical relationship is based on a mutual desire for the betterment and advancement of dental education systems.
While there are differences between the two associations’ contextual environments and operational activities, in recent years it has become clear that the challenges faced by the associations and by their respective memberships are ever more interrelated.
To explore and investigate these areas of commonality, the collaborative ADEE-ADEA Special Interest Group (SIG) was introduced at the ADEE annual meeting in Rīga, Latvia in 2014. The SIG has since held meetings in Boston, MA and Szeged, Hungary in 2015, and in Denver, CO and Barcelona, Spain in 2016. From these SIG meetings, the desire to hold a shared meeting evolved.
To date, a Shaping the Future of Dental Education formation meeting was held in Barcelona, Spain in September 2016, Shaping the Future of Dental Education II was held in London, UK in May 2017, and Shaping the Future of Dental Education III will be hosted in Brescia, Italy in April 2019.
This shared web-space will be utilised to share outcomes and future plans for this joint activity.
